Quality tool steel is subdivided into carbon and alloyed steels.
Carbon tool steel is produced per GOST 1435-74
.
Carbon tool steel is marked with the letter Ó, this denoting a carbon steel, and a number to indicate the carbon content in percent centesimals.
Alloyed tool steel is produced per GOST
5950-2000
.
Letters and digits in steel grade designation denote: digit – average carbon content in percent decimals, Õ – chrome-doped, Â – tungsten-doped, Ã – manganese-doped. The amount of chrome, tungsten and manganese in steel is determined by GOST.
